The Finnish Ski Area Association (SHKY) is the umbrella organization of Finnish ski resorts with the following main tasks:
  • furthering the interests of ski resort industry
  • training its members  - research activities
  • industry's public relations and joint marketing
  • consumer guidance on lift and slope security
A central objective is to increase the number of alpine skiers, increase their skiing activity and secure a healthy growth of the industry.		 Additionally SHKY:
  • works on guidelines and norms for slope activities
  • acts as a advisory body towards its members and the authorities
  • develops ski schools and their working environment
  • gathers industry statistics
  • develops and works on the industry's market and consumer research
  • improve the public image of the industry
