Ruka Ski Area is renowned for well-groomed slopes and the longest ski season in Finland; over 200 days. The secret lies in the climate, as well as in the high-quality snowmaking machinery - not to forget the snow-how!
Thanks to the favourable weather conditions, location and altitude, Ruka is sure to have the first frost in September, enabling us to open the first slope in October and continue the ski season until May.
At Ruka you can find ski areas for kids and beginners as well as challenging black slopes and anything in between. The weekly slope programme and excellent restaurant facilities on the slopes keep you going all day. Ruka is also popular among snowboarders thanks to the FIS classified super pipe and the mighty BatteryPark, which has a great selection of jumps and rails for beginners to experts.
You can find restaurants, shops & rental equipment, accommodation and other services in the Ruka pedestrian village. With its services the unique pedestrian village creates a lively centre in Ruka from which you can access the slopes in no time. Also snowmobile and nature safaris start off near the pedestrian village. The possibilities for cross-country skiing in Ruka and Kuusamo are also excellent. Theres plenty to experience along the 500 km network of skiing tracks.
